FNS50217 – Diploma of Accounting
Students who have completed Acro Business College Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping may choose to continue their studies with our 12 months Diploma of Accounting. This course builds on the basic accounting principles studied in the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping course to more advanced concepts.
You will learn how to maintain accounting information systems, report on business performance, and develop business plans. You will learn skills vital to accounting professionals such as workplace health and safety, budgets, spreadsheets, internal controls, payroll and tax documentation for individuals.
Once you have graduated you may wish to use your Diploma as a pathway to an undergraduate qualification at an Australian university* or begin your career in roles such as budget analyser, financial controller, or registered tax agent.
*This Diploma is a pathway to university but does not automatically qualify you for entrance into a university.

Assessment Methods
Written question assessments, projects/case studies and reports, self-paced study/research.
Competency is assessed after the scheduled training and pre-assessment preparation has been completed.
Must be proficient in English and demonstrate sufficient numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent to ACSF exit level 3)
Completion of the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set;
OR
Completion of FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Booking or equivalent; or its superseded versions (FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting) or their equivalent.

Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Refer to the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements.
This qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation law and commercial law, which are relevant for registration as a tax agent. Persons seeking registration with the TPB should check current registration requirements with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly.
Completing all the units of competency within this qualification will lead to the issuance of a Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217) including a transcript of all completed units. Students who successfully complete individual units of competency, but not the whole qualification, will be eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment detailing the completed units.
